National politics offers students the opportunity to critically examine the Australian political system and compare the political systems of Australia and the United States. Students examine the nature of the two systems and the key domestic and foreign policy issues and challenges facing them.
Regular newsletters pertaining to current and upcoming career events will be featured. It is recommended that students from ALL year levels and their parents browse through these newsletters to keep up to date with the latest news in careers. Information Technology Unit 2
Unit 1: IT in action This unit focuses on how individuals use, and can be affected by, information and communications technology (ICT) in their daily lives. Students acquire and apply a range of knowledge and skills to create information that persuades, educates or entertains. They also explore how their lives are affected by ICT and strategies for influencing how ICT is applied. Students develop an understanding of the role technology plays in inputting, processing, storing and communicating data and information. In each outcome of this unit students use software to create solutions and information products. For Outcomes 1 and 3, students use a software tool selected from these types of software: web authoring and multimedia authoring. Additional types of software can be used, such as image editing software, for example, Macromedia Flash and Adobe PhotoShop, but they are not mandatory. For Outcome 2, students use database management software to solve information problems.

Students in Year 8 Japanese build on their ability to speak, read, recognise and write simple sentences, to more complicated ones. Students learn to make joined sounds in Hiragana and add to their knowledge of Kanji. Students also learn more about the Japanese culture.
Students in Year 7 Japanese learn to speak, read, write and recognise basic greetings and sentences in the LOTE. Students learn to write the first alphabet of Japanese, Hiragana, as well as some Kanji characters. Class time is also spent on gaining an understanding of Japanese culture.

This course is an introduction to VCE Japanese Units 3 and 4. There are three prescribed themes that the students study. These are: The Individual, The Japanese speaking communities and The Changing world.

This course continues on from Units 1 & 2 Japanese. Students revise learnt grammatical patterns, vocabulary and Kanji characters through various topics and through the four skills strands: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students undertake three outcomes per semester, relating to the above skills. The outcomes in the second semester revolve around the Detailed Study topics in preparation for the end of year oral and written examinations.

A theoretical and practical approach towards physical activity is taken in this study. It provides the means by which theory and practice are integrated. This is the first of a two year sequence in Biology. Unit 1 covers the cell and cell structure as well as organisms functioning at a cellular level and at whole organism level. Unit 2 covers ecology and the interactions between living things and their environment. Human impact on the environment is also examined.
Unit 3 is the study of molecular biology, detecting and responding - homeostasis in plants and animals as well as the human immune system. Unit 4 is the study of inheritance, the role of DNA in inheritance and evolutionary theory.

VCAL Foundation, Intermediate and Senior Work Related Skills
Throughout the study students undertake systematic training in technical and physical skills which enables them to safely execute a diverse range of expressive body actions. Students develop and refine their technical and choreographic skills by exploring personal and learnt movement vocabularies and ways in which movement can be created and arranged to communicate, in a safe way, the expressive intention of the dance-maker. Students perform choreographed or learnt solo and group dance works using different dance-making processes, and study ways in which ideas are communicated choreographically and through performance skills in their own and others’ dances.
